This follows the National Department of Water and Sanitation's pronouncement two months ago to lift water restrictions for consumers who receive water from the Integrated Vaal River System.

The Department of Water and Sanitation gazetted the lifting of water restrictions on 13 March 2017.

In terms of the new partial restrictions, Tshwane residents are not allowed to irrigate gardens with a hosepipe or sprinkler between 11:00 and 16:00.

The city says this applies both in winter and summer.

Consumers are urged to continue conserving water by using water wisely and sparingly.

According to the city, the drilling of boreholes is allowed, except in dolomitic areas.

All water users are urged to change the manner in which they utilise water and to maintain vigilance in conserving the resource.

"Saving water must become part of our lifestyle," says the city.

The city says the water conservation measures implemented during the period of the initial restrictions should become the norm.

"Residents are urged to keep on using grey water to water gardens and flush toilets, to report water leaks and burst pipes, and to install water-saving devices."
