Tshwane revamps iconic Church Square

The City of Tshwane's iconic Church Square has received a
facelift.

The revamped landmark, which saw the city spend R28 million on improvements, was unveiled on Friday.
The city hopes this will lure more tourists to the heart of Pretoria.
MMC of Roads and Transport Sheila Senkubunge hailed the first phrase of the renovations.
“The first phrase of revamping Church Square came at a cost of R28 million rands over the period of 2 years."

She says six women and thirteen young South Africans where employed as part of the revamping of the square.

Tshwane Mayor Solly Msimanga say part of revamping Church Square is to bring business to the inner city of Tshwane.
“Part of that is a bigger dream that Paul Kruger Street, become a motor-free zone also make ensure that you attract more visitors to the city."
Msimanga appealed for more co-operation between formal and informal businesses in the area, to ensure that tourists feel welcome in the area.
“There is a lot of history there that I think should be retold, revamped or rehashed in term of how we take that square forward.”#ChurchSquare | It has cost the City of Tshwane R28million to re-vamp the square.
