Tshwane sees spike in road deaths over Easter weekend
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The City of Tshwane has recorded more deaths in this year's Easter holidays compared to the previous year.

Between 29 March and 1 April, the metro recorded 15 deaths from twelve motor vehicle accidents and three incidents involving pedestrians.
Compared to the same period in 2023, the city recorded only three fatalities, with 32 car crashes and seven incidents involving pedestrians.
The latest fatalities were reported on the Moloto road and N4 Bronkhorstspruit in the last 24 hours.
"Despite ongoing efforts to promote road safety and enhance enforcement measures, the recent incidents underscore the urgent need for comprehensive interventions to address the root causes of accidents,” said the city’s MMC for Community Safety, Grandi Theunissen.
"The City of Tshwane remains committed to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to implement targeted strategies aimed at reducing road accidents and fatalities."
