Tshwane sends search and rescue teams to KZN

Tshwane emergency services has sent some of its search and rescue technicians to assist teams in KwaZulu-Natal.
This while search and recovery operations continue in flood-stricken KZN.
Acting city manager Mmaseabata Mutlaneng authorised the deployment on Wednesday.
“The technicians who had been on standby for the deployment, immediately left the Tshwane to join their fellow USAR-SA01 team members from the cities of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, and the Gauteng EMS at Northview Fire Station for pre-deployment marshalling.
“The deployment is coordinated and funded by the Gauteng Provincial Disaster Management,” says Mutlaneng.
The 23-member team will remain in KZN throughout the search and rescue period.
“The Urban Search and Rescue technicians are versatile and multi-skilled technicians capable of carrying various tasks in a disaster and emergency situations. The team will remain in KZN as part of extending a hand of humanitarian assistance to the people of KZN,” he adds.
