Tshwane, south of Joburg among Gauteng Covid-19 hotspots

Parts of Tshwane and the south of Johannesburg are among Gauteng’s hotspots for Covid-19, according to the province’s new Covid-19 dashboard.

Of the province’s major districts, the dashboard shows Johannesburg and Tshwane have the highest number of cumulative infections.
Ekurhuleni is the third highest district, followed by the West Rand and Sedibeng.
Other regions can be seen on the dashboard recently launched by the Gauteng government.
Gauteng residents can now access live information on Covid-19 hotspot areas after local government partnered with IBM Research and Wits University to launch the platform.
Data and modelling for the province are used to show the latest Covid-19 stats.
The province has a total of 259 962 cumulative cases, the highest in the country.
Some 239 069 recoveries have been recorded.
The death toll for Covid-19 in the province now sits at 5 226 since the start of the pandemic.
