Tshwane on standby after flooding as more rain expected

City of Tshwane Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are on standby following flooding in the capital on Saturday morning.
EMS spokesperson, Refiloe Phantshang says a number of areas were affected, including Lotus Gardens, Atteridgeville, and Ipeleng squatter camp in Laudium where 200 shacks and 3 houses were involved.
Parts of Centurion also saw flooding and a sinkhole appeared in a private yard in Ipeleng.
Phantshang says the affected area "are under continuous monitoring by both EMS from Tshwane and police."
He added that most of the roads have been re-opened subsequently.

However, the SA Weather Service (SAWS)'s Mbavhi Maliage has warned that more rain is expected.
"We're not expecting it to get any better," said Maliage, adding that especially informal areas ar at risk for flooding.
The SAWS has extended its flooding watch to the whole of Gauteng.
