Tshwane suspends A Re Yeng bus service

The City of Tshwane says commuters will have to find alternative forms of transport following the suspension of the A Re Yeng bus services.
The bus service was suspended due to safety concerns amid the strike by the South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) over wage increases.
City spokesperson Selby Bokaba says threats have been made to bus drivers.

“We would like to inform our A Re Yeng bus commuters that we have decided to suspend the bus operations with immediate effect.
“Our bus drivers were threatened and considering there is no security along our operational areas after 15 of our traffic controllers were damaged.”
Bokaba says it will cost the city some R500 000 to repair the damage to the traffic controllers.
The city’s municipal bus services also remain suspended.
