Tshwane warns residents to be wary of fake solar installers
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The City of Tshwane says a fake contactor pretending to install solar panels on behalf of the metro has been duping residents of Soshanguve.
“The city does not have a solar project going on in Soshanguve and residents are cautioned not to fall for this scam,” says city spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
“The alleged fake contractors have been seen going around with a supposed Tshwane Credit Control Contractor vehicle, taking pictures of houses.”
Mashigo has urged residents to be cautious.
“Tshwane residents are urged to be on the lookout for these perpetrators, and if approached they should report this to the Tshwane Metro Police Department on 012 358 7095/6 or the city’s call centre at 012 358 9999.
“We also wish to warn those who are carrying out such corrupt acts that they will be arrested, charged and prosecuted, as their actions border on criminality.”
