Rand Water started implementing water restrictions in Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni on Friday.

This was due to higher consumption, which led to water reservoir levels dropping to 40%.

Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says the restrictions are applicable throughout Tshwane.

"Will ensure the control and provision of water supply to all residents."

The following areas will be restricted severely from Monday:

· Ga-Rankuwa and Ga-Rankuwa industrial sites

· Mabopane

· Akasia Park

· Kruisfontein

· Brakfontein

· Thaba Tshwane

· Blair Athol

· Pretoria West

·Sunnyside

· Arcadia

·Meintjieskop

· City centre (CBD)

· Wonderboom

· Saulsville

·Erasmia

Mashigo says residents should continue to conserve water as part of their normal lifestyle.

"If this appeal is heeded, water-related interruptions will be minimised. The city urges residents to make water conservation measures that were implemented during the initial restrictions, a lifestyle norm.”
