Tshwane health facilities operational amid flooding, says Gauteng Health

The Gauteng Department of Health says it is business as usual at four of its health facilities in the City of Tshwane.
This comes after heavy storms flooded some of the units at the facilities on Tuesday night.
The city has experienced several heavy storms in the past few months with the latest a Level 2 Yellow warning issued by the South African Weather Service earlier this week.
The affected facilities include Odi District Hospital in Mabopane, Sedilega Clinic in Mabopane and Block TT Clinic and KT Mutubatse Clinic which are both in Soshanguve.
Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) spokesperson Motalatale Modiba says the damage caused at these facilities include a collapsed ceiling that resulted in some wards being waterlogged.
“No patient or staff members at these facilities were injured as a result of the damages caused by the storm. Albeit these circumstances, communities are advised that health services continue as normal.
“The GDoH has since dispatched officials from the Infrastructure Unit in the Department to assess the damage in order to institute immediate measures to ensure that health services do not get affected further.”
Tshwane Emergency Services continue to be on high alert.
