Tshwane residents warned of prolonged outages amid stage 6 load shedding

Tshwane residents have been warned to brace themselves for prolonged outages as the city’s infrastructure struggles to cope with the impact of stage 6 load shedding.
The city’s MMC for Utilities Themba Fosi said stage 6 load shedding has a damaging impact on the city's electricity network and infrastructure.
Eskom implemented stage 6 power cuts on Sunday “until further notice”.
Fosi said the power cuts affect the city’s ability to attend to unplanned power outages.
"Turning the electricity network on and off continuously has a major impact on the condition of our network infrastructure".
"Residents should be aware that load-shedding can result in additional outages due to overloading of the network, as well as vandalism and theft of our electrical infrastructure. Furthermore, as the frequency of load shedding increases, the Ccty’s resources will be severely stretched," he said.
