Tshwane vows to restore power in Pyramid substation areas ‘on Friday’
Updated | By Mapaballo Borotho
Tshwane residents who have been without electricity for weeks due to a blaze that gutted the temporary Pyramid substation should be able to turn on their lights again on Friday.
The City of Tshwane says its technicians are working tirelessly to restore power to customers who are supplied by the Pyramid substation, particularly the farming communities.
The substation caught fire in mid-September when a storm, accompanied by strong winds, wreaked havoc in parts of the city.
Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said, "teams are busy preparing and connecting cables for supply to the affected customers. The expected time of restoration is Friday.”
"In Region 4, power has been restored to all commercial consumers and 80% of Zwartkop residential area following a power outage which was caused by a burnt cable at the Kentron substation".
