Tshwane water reservoir levels ‘unhealthy’
Updated | By Lebohang Ndashe
The City of Tshwane’s spokesperson Lindela Mashigo is again cautioning that the city's water supply is threatened due to unhealthy reservoir levels, leading to possible service disruptions.
Magalies Water – a bulk water supplier - has implemented a rotational water supply for Hammanskraal communities.
Babelegi Reservoir, managed by Magalies Water, may cause intermittent water supply interruptions for residents.
Magalies Water said it would prioritise supplying the Moretele area during the day, with Babelegi receiving supplies in the evening.
Once reservoir levels have stabilised, the system will resume normal operations, with automatic pumping of water to the tower to resume.
Mashigo told Jacaranda FM News that while specific reservoir levels cannot be disclosed, the city is closely monitoring the water supply and reservoirs due to ongoing concerns.
“For the past two years there has been tanker water delivering to Hammanskraal affected communities,” Mashigo added.
Mashigo urged residents to use water sparingly so that the reservoirs levels can be stable.
