Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Auditing firm, KPMG has appointed Chancellor of the University of Pretoria, Prof Wiseman Nkuhlu as its new board chairperson from the first of March this year.
The auditing giant has also appointed Ansie Ramalho as Independent Director to its board.
KPMG recently admitted to serious shortcomings in its work done for both the controversial Gupta family, as well as its investigation into claims of a so-called rogue unit at the South African Revenue Services (SARS).
CEO of KPMG South Africa, Nhlamu Dlomu, says the new appointments will "further progress in strengthening the governance and leadership of the firm."

Both the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors (IRBA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) have launched investigations into KPMG, with Dlomu also accounting to parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA).
"Prof Nkuhlu and Ramalho will add an external perspective and bring a huge amount of relevant experience, wisdom and challenge as we make the critical decisions required to rebuild the firm," says Dlomu.
