His daughter Mpho Tutu gave media an update on the Archbishop's condition on Thursday morning.

The Archbishop was readmitted to a Cape Town hospital last week, and is currently in the middle of a 2-week intravenous treatment for a slight inflammation .

Mpho stated that her father isn't as young as he used to be and deoesn't have boundless reserves of energy like he used to.

She added that the family is grateful for the messages and prayers of support, which are helping the Arch in his healing process.

Although he hasn't paid him a visit, President Zuma has sent a personal message of support along with several world leaders, including Jimmy Carter and Richard Branson.

The family says they are hopeful he will be home by the end of next week.

The Arch, as he is affectionately known, was diagnosed with prostate cancer 15 years ago and his current treatment follows a persistent infection.

"My father has had a funeral plan for years, that is something that's been in place for more than 20 years. My father continues to pray for concerns close to his heart particularly refugees & people in war torn areas. "In a sense my father is an ideal patient and can be the worst because he doesn't complain," Mpho said
