Two people have been arrested in Parow in Cape Town for being in possession of drugs and two illegal firearms, Western Cape police said on Sunday.
Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) stabilisation unit acted on a tip-off and conducted a search operation at a flat on the corner of Joubert and Piet Retief streets in Parow early on Sunday morning, Lt-Col Andrè Traut said.
During the search, the officers discovered two illegal firearms – a 9mm pistol and a .38 special revolver – and 1kg of Mandrax powder.
“Two suspects, a 37-year-old female and a 34-year-old male, were arrested and are both due to make a court appearance in Parow [on Monday] for the possession of unlicensed firearms and drugs,” Traut said.
