Police in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal are searching for an unknown number of suspects following separate attacks on six police officers in the two provinces.

The attacks all took place within the last 48 hours leading up to Tuesday – leaving two dead and four others wounded.
“In the latest incident which happened in the early hours of Tuesday in Orange Farm, Gauteng, two police officials were patrolling in an unmarked police vehicle when they noticed an abandoned bakkie on the side of the road,” says Gauteng police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe.
“As the police officers approached the abandoned vehicle to investigate, a group of suspects opened fire on them wounding both members. Sadly, a reservist constable died at the scene.”
There have been similar attacks in KZN, with police officers getting shot at by unknown suspects during patrols.
Two officers have died while four others were wounded.
