Sandile Nyathekazi and Vika Nzama, faced two counts of murder, one of attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and conspiracy to commit robbery.
The case against the pair was postponed last week as they still needed to undergo an identity parade.
It was alleged that they were part of a gang who shot at three officers near Modderfontein in Johannesburg.
Constables Mthokoziseni Myeza and Maisha Mafokoane were killed while a third policeman, Steven Mafanelo was injured in the incident.
The three officers were attacked after they attempted to stop what was said to be a "suspicious-looking" vehicle.
One of the gang members, a Zimbabwean national, was shot and wounded during the incident. The man had since died.
A fourth gang member, Nhlanhleni Nzama was arrested in connection to the same incident in KwaZulu-Natal.
He appeared in the Kranskop Magistrate's Court where he faced a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Colonel Noxolo Kweza told News24 the man had not yet been brought to Johannesburg to face charges alongside his co-accused.
He was expected back in the KZN court on April 15.
