Two die at Savuka Mine in Gauteng
Updated | By Laila Majiet
Two mineworkers have died following a series of seismic events at the Savuka Gold Mine on the West Rand.

Operators of the mine AngloGold Ashanti confirmed the largest of the seismic events registered at 3.5 on the Richter scale.
It resulted in rock falls in an underground shaft on Friday morning.
The pair were in their 40s and had worked for the company for over a decade.
AngloGold's Stewart Bailey confirmed work at the mine has been suspended until it is deemed safe to return underground.
"Seismic events were last experienced at Savuka Mine in 2009. This is the most severe at this operation in many years," he says.
The Department of Mineral Resources will conduct an inspection at the mine on Tuesday.
