Two elderly die while casting vote

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in Gauteng has confirmed that a second elderly person has passed away while casting her vote Maqingwana voting station in the Vaal, south of Gauteng.
South Africans took to the polls on Wednesday for the country's sixth democratic elections since the dawn of democracy, many in some parts of the country and to vote in cloudy, cold and wet weather.
Earlier on Wednesday IEC CEO Sy Mamabolo said one elderly person had died at a polling station in Elandspoort in Tshwane.
According to IEC Gauteng spokesperson Boitumelo Monaki, it's alleged that the voter came in a taxi and she collapsed just before she was issued with a ballot paper.
"Paramedics were called and she was confirmed dead on the scene," Monaki said.
