The truck was travelling near Stormvoel Road in Kilner Park when the accident occurred at around 03:41am.

Tshwane Emergency Management Services spokesperson Lindsay Mnguni says a fire truck and a rapid intervention unit from Innesdale Fire Station were immediately called to the scene.

"Upon arrival, firefighters began with rescue operations and called for backup as a cargo truck, carrying beverages (Miranda drinks), had lost control, veered and overturned, and hit a house in Kamferbos Street, which had two occupants inside.

"The driver was not immediately found and the ECC then dispatched additional resources from Central and Hatfield Fire Stations to the incident to assist with search and rescue operations.

"These included a ladder, a fire truck, a video unit and a district commander’s unit.

"The two occupants, a male and a female, sustained minor injuries and were treated and transported to different hospitals by private ambulances, one patient to Montana Hospital and the other to 1 Military Hospital.”

Mnguni adds that the truck driver is still missing.

"After an extensive and intricate search effort, which lasted for more than twelve hours due to firefighters having to carefully remove the truck’s merchandise of mainly cold drink bottles and the truck itself, having to break the walls of the house, (even utilising the expertise of the K9 search unit) the Tshwane Emergency Services Department firefighters as of 15:00, have not been able to identify the driver yet.

"The City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department will continue to search for the truck driver and issue further notices where necessary."

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
