Two in court for minister's murder

Two men accused of the axe murder of Dutch Reformed Church minister Willem Brits are expected to appear in the Harrismith Magistrate's Court on Friday.
Two men accused of the axe murder of Dutch Reformed Church minister Willem Brits are expected to appear in the Harrismith Magistrate's Court on Friday.
The reverend's adoptive son, Martin Brits, 28, and Elliot Mhlambi, 41, face charges relating to the murder of Brits, 60, in his Harrismith home in November last year.
The minister's prospective son-in-law Gerhard Vermeulen, 25, was also killed in the attack. He was shot in the head and died on the scene. Brits was wounded and taken to hospital, where he died the next day.
His 59-year-old wife was wounded.
