Two people have been killed and one is in a critical condition following a shootout on the M1 highway near the Xavier off-ramp in Johannesburg.

Details around the incident in the south of the city are still sketchy.
"Preliminary investigation suggests that three people were driving in a silver Toyota Corolla on Xavier Road, near the M1 on-ramp when they were shot at,” says Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo.
