Two killed in suspected Alexandra taxi shooting
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Johannesburg police have launched a manhunt for suspects linked to an attack on security officers of the Alexandra Taxi Association in Wynberg.
A bodyguard attached to one of the taxi bosses and a bystander where killed in the shootout.
The bystander has been identified as an e-hailing driver who was caught in the crossfire during Monday’s shooting on Old Pretoria Road.
"We are pursuing a double murder case, following an attack on these ATA security officials. We cannot dispute if it is taxi related shooting," said Johannesburg district police spokesperson Jeff Phora.
"However, our primary investigation doesn't indicate whether it was taxi-related violence or not and that's another angle that we're pursuing as the police.”
