Two nabbed for Limpopo taxi killing
Updated | By Martine van der Walt Ehlers
Police in Limpopo arrested two men in connection with murder of a taxi driver on the R71 between Polokwane and Tzaneen on Sunday.

It is alleged that a minibus, transporting 15 University of Limpopo students to Mpumalanga, was forced off the road by members of a local taxi association.
They demanded to see the driver's permit.
"A conflict ensued and one of the taxi people produced a firearm,” says provincial police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe.
"He shot the driver of the minibus several times, killing him instantly.
"The police in the area were notified and they started to search for the suspects immediately. Within a few hours, the two suspects were apprehended".
Police also seized an unlicensed firearm, believed to be the weapon used in the killing, during the arrest.
The suspects will appear in the Mankweng Magistrates' Court soon.
"Provincial Police Commisioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has condemned this senseless killing in the strongest terms," says Ngoepe.
"The behaviour of some of the taxi operators along Limpopo's roads is a matter of concern to the police.
"The commissioner has warned that members of taxi associations still perpetrating these crimes are going to be dealt with mercilessly and without compromise."
