Two nabbed in Silverlakes for manufacturing counterfeit money

The case against two men accused of manufacturing counterfeit money has been postponed until Tuesday.

The pair appeared at the Pretoria Magistrate's court on Wednesday after they were arrested for manufacturing counterfeit rands and American dollars.
Jude Yaya Oka and Evans Akor Tiku have been charged with contravening the Currency Act and violating the Reserve Bank Act.
Hawks spokesperson Lloyd Ramovha says they managed to seize some of the fake money.
"The team descended at the premises in Silver Lakes, Pretoria, along Ferreira Street, Fountains Residential Estates. A self-storage unit was subjected to a search. This was after the two suspects were interviewed. Inside the storage were black plastic bags that the accused were busy loading into a nearby parked motor vehicle.
"Counterfeit South African rands and counterfeit US dollars, as well as a printer that was used to produce the fake money, were seized.”
