Court postpones Desmond Nair corruption case

The corruption case against suspended Pretoria Chief Magistrate Desmond Nair has been postponed to 26 September.

Nair appeared in the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Court on Wednesday.
The case was postponed to allow his attorney to study the reply from the office of the National Director of Public Prosecutions, to which he made representations to have his charges withdrawn.
Nair allegedly received security upgrades, valued at approximately R200,000, for his Silverton home from African Global Operations, formerly known as Bosasa.
“The NDDP has not acceded to Nair’s bid and has therefore decided that prosecution must proceed,” said NPA Investigative Directorate spokesperson Henry Mamothame.
