Union continues with plans to shut down Durban July
Updated | By Nokukhanya Mntambo
The Academic and Professional Staff Association (Apsa) has vowed to continue with plans to shut down the Durban July on Saturday if workers demands are not met.

The workers union has given employer Phumelela Gaming, which it says controls the event, until Friday to halt plans to retrench some 500 workers.
"The expectation is that the employer must come back to the table to negotiate with us, that's the first fundamental one," says the union's general secretary, Boitumelo Senokoane.
The threat to disrupt the prestigious horse racing event came amidst reassurances by official organiser Gold Circle that the event would go ahead as planned.
However Senokoane says they are not deterred by threats to deploy police at the event.
"We don't mind, we've dealt with police presence everywhere."
