Union hosts virtual picket as shop steward tests positive for Covid-19
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers (NUPSAW) hosted a “live-stream picket” on Wednesday after one of their shopsteward tested positive for Covid-19.

NUPSAW’s media officer Kagiso Makoe says the picket was held at Far East Rand Hospital in Springs.
The unions wants the hospital to be shut down in order for it to be disinfected.
“One of our members is a shop steward…tested positive for Covid-19 and have on numerous occasions tried to get a hold of hospital management to get all hospital facilities fumigated and cleaned.
“All staff need to be tested and they have thus far only had one location that was fumigated, which was the laundry room. But we demand that the hospital be shut down and that all workers be tested and provide them with PPEs.”
