Union targets Vodacom headquarters ahead of Durban July

Workers affiliated to the Academic and Professional Staff Association (APSA) demonstrated outside Vodacom's head office in Midrand on Thursday.
The protestors blocked the building’s entrances and exits to the building, with some staff and customers unable to leave the building.
The union's general secretary Boitumelo Senokoane says the protest comes ahead of a planned shutdown of the Durban July on Saturday.

They have targeted Vodacom as one of the sponsors of the annual horseracing event.
Workers are unhappy over the planned retrenchment of 500 workers in the betting division of Phumelela Gaming, one of the stakeholders in the Durban July.
