Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The University of Limpopo on Wednesday suspended all academic activities with immediate effect.
The University said classes have been suspended indefinitely.
Students took to the streets this morning following clashes with security personnel, continuing their call for free higher education.
The university said the decision was taken in the interest of the safety and security of students, staff and property.
"Students are expected to vacate the residences by 5.00pm today," University spokesperson Kgalema Mohuba said.
Mohuba said police and security were engaging with students, who regrouped early this morning.
"Some of them have run out of the University. I saw them blocking the main road now, which is now the issue of the community and the police."
