Updated | By Sune du Toit
Police spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker said the 57-year old man was driving past the store in Turton on the R102 near Hibberdene on the province’s South Coast on Thursday night, when he was shot.
The man lost control of the car, which then overturned.
Robert McKenzie, spokesperson for the KZN provincial Emergency Medical Services, said that two other occupants of the car were seriously injured and taken to hospital.
The man was declared dead at the scene.
Naicker said the motive for the shooting was not known and a case of murder had been opened at the Hibberdene police station. He said there had been no arrests so far.
