Khumalo reached the top of the world's highest mountain early on Thursday morning.

Khumalo's agent Sarieta Schultz says she will only make contact with her on Friday morning.

"Right now, she's back to Camp 4. We haven't contact with her up until now so we will speak to her later tonight or tomorrow morning."

Schultz says Khumalo worked hard for this achievement is very proud of the work she has done.

"We are absolutely elated. It's the fourth time she's trying we've been going at this. 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, so yes it was a long night last night. We followed her on the tracker the whole night and about quarter past five this morning all of it came together"

The Johannesburg based Khumalo is an executive at a financial management institution, the mother of two boys and founder of the initiative "7 Summits with a purpose", an initiative that helps raise money to build libraries for underprivileged schools in South Africa.

Spokesperson in the Department of Women, Shalen Gajadhar, says Khumalo's achievement should send out the message to South Africans to never give up.

"It's perseverance and hard work. It's no secret that she's attempted this mountain before and she's fallen short, but she didn't give up, she found her weakness, she worked on them.

"She's now realised what is clearly a lifetime goal for her, but climbing a mountain is not putting one foot in front of the other especially Mout Everest.

"She had to put her life in danger to get to the top, but she's well prepared and shows how perseverance, hard work, dedication and sacrifice can help someone reach their dreams, " Gajahar said.
