Uyinene Mrwetyana's rapist and murder, Luyanda Botha has been sentenced to life in prison for her rape and murder in the Western Cape High Court.
Botha received three life sentences on Friday - two related to rape and one related to murder - and also received a 5 year-sentence for defeating the ends of justice under a plea agreement.

The 19-year-old UCT student's rape and murder made national headlines in September and led to a national wave of protest over gender-based violence (GBV).
Botha worked at the Post Office at the time of Mrwetyana's fatal assault and lured her there after hours.
