A group of health workers were robbed at gunpoint while busy administering vaccines in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria on Friday afternoon.

The Pulse Health team was assisting the government at Soshanguve Block JJ pop-up vaccination site when five armed suspects pounced on them.
Robbers made off with vaccination programme gadgets which consist of two tablets and five cell phones belonging to the victims.
Gauteng Health spokesperson Kwara Kekana says the attacks are hampering vaccination efforts.
“The continued attacks on mobile vaccination teams, are not only putting the lives of healthcare workers in danger. Members of the community need to rise in defence of the vaccination teams as the situation is getting out of hand.
“All these incidents are happening when the government taking the vaccination programme closer to the people. We call on all members of society to work with law enforcement agencies to ensure that these perpetrators are brought to book.”
In December 2021, a mobile vaccination team was robbed at gunpoint at a pop-up vaccination site in Wonder City Taxi Rank, Soshanguve.
No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made.
