Vandals topple electricity pylon in Johannesburg
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
City Power and Eskom are investigating the vandalism of a pylon that collapsed and caused power outage in the south of Johannesburg on Thursday afternoon.

City Power says their technicians and engineers are working to restore power in the area.
In a statement, City Power says the pylon carried 88kv of electricity from Eskom's Edna substation to City Power's Ennerdale and Hopefield substations.
According to the city's preliminary investigations, it is believed bolts and steel sheets supporting the pylon structure were stolen, causing the structure to weaken and collapse.
Suburbs affected by this vandalism include Ennerdale and parts of Lawley including Ext 1 & 2.
"We are also investigating how the pylon came down, and whether there was any damage to structures on the ground, including houses. By this afternoon (Thursday), there were no known injuries or death reported, but we have teams on the ground to investigate all these," said City Power's CEO Lerato Setshedi in a statement.
It is not clear yet when power be be fully restored.
