Various accidents have been reported on Tuesday morning amid the ongoing heavy rainfall in parts of the country.

On Tuesday morning Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a pedestrian crash in front of Garsfontein high School in Pretoria. Reports from the scene indicate that the girl was crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing when she was hit by a vehicle that then fled the scene. 


Exact detail however will be for police comment.


Also in Pretoria, a 5-year-old boy was flung 30 meters into the air and landed on a bridge when a car overturned near Pyramid.


According to NetCare 911's Chris Botha two adults and two children aged five and ten were critically injured in the accident.


He added that paramedics initially only found one child and after a frantic search medics and firemen found the five-year-old boy 30 meters from the wreckage.

"The boy was catapulted out of the vehicle and landed thirty meters above the roadway on a bridge," Botha said.


In Potchefstroom a 52-year-old man was left seriously injured on Tuesday morning when his light motor vehicle crashed into a light pole on the N12.


ER24 paramedics received the call at 04h50 and immediately responded through the heavy rain.

And three people were injured on Monday night after two vehicles collided head-on on Hills haven't Mine Road near Westonaria on the Westrand.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found one of the vehicles in the middle of the road while the other was found off into the veld.


Authorities have urged people to take care on the roads amid the heavy down pours in parts of Gauteng, the Free State and the North West.
