South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) general-secretary Zwelinzima Vavi is in self-isolation after testing positive for Covid-19.
The 57-year old Vavi received his test results on Thursday morning.
"I went for a test yesterday after falling ill with the flu from Friday. I felt that I must test on Saturday, they turned me back as my temperature was fine. I went back yesterday because I was feeling worse than the weekend, and today they called to say ‘you are positive and I must self-isolate’."

Vavi says the source of the virus is a mystery as he has not traveled abroad or been around anyone else who has tested positive.
"My wife has to go for a test, my kids have to be tested and everybody that has been around me must test. I had a Political Ideology meeting before the lockdown and preferably everyone who was there must test just to be on the safe side."
