Vehicle tracking expert concludes evidence in Meyiwa trial

Vehicle tracking expert Michael du Preez has concluded his testimony in the Senzo Meyiwa trial within a trial.
Du Preez, from Ctrak testified in the Pretoria High Court regarding the vehicle that escorted accused two Bongani Ntanzi to his alleged confession in June 2020.
According to evidence presented by du Preez, the vehicle escorting Ntanzi did stop at two locations where Ntanzi alleges police tortured him.
Ntanzi’s defence counsel Adv Thulani Mngomezulu has argued that Ntanzi was assaulted and tortured by police at a steel plant in Alberton.
Mngomezulu has also added that police tortured Ntanzi at a dumping site.

Du Preez was able to confirm through the vehicle AVL report that the vehicle escorting Ntanzi did indeed stop near or at both facilities.
“Looking at this, this looks like a bin that is packed over here. I have no reference it only says, Alberton City Ekurhuleni Municipal Transfer Facility.
“I just happen to know the area, Scaw Metals is on the other side of the road. On this side is the metal plant and the vehicle is on the opposite side of the N3.”
A new state witness is expected to take the stand on Monday, where the trial against five men accused of killing Meyiwa will continue.
