A vehicle theft syndicate was cracked on Wednesday evening when a sting operation at the Beitbridge Border Post led to the arrest of five suspects.

According to police, the syndicate has been smuggling stolen motor vehicles from South Africa to Zimbabwe through the Limpopo River.
"During this operation, five suspects from Senwabarwana, Musina and Soshanguve in Gauteng were arrested and four stolen motor vehicles awaiting to be smuggled were seized," the police said.
One of the stolen vehicles included a Toyota Hilux single cab which was hijacked in Hammanskraal.
A Hyundai H1 truck, which was to be delivered to the Department of Public Works in Pretoria, a BMW 7 series and a Toyota Avanza, which was hijacked in Brooklyn in Gauteng, was also recovered.
These suspects are expected to appear in the Musina Magistrate Court on Thursday on a charge of possession of stolen motor vehicles.
Police investigations are still continuing.
