VIDEO: ANC Gauteng conference kicks off
Scores of African National Congress (ANC) members arrived at the Gauteng provincial conference at the St. George’s hotel in Irene, Pretoria on Friday.
President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to deliver the opening address.
The High Court on Wednesday ruled against an application to prevent the ANC’s elective conference from going ahead.
ANC members in Ekurhuleni, east of Johannesburg, approached the court seeking to halt the conference.
Earlier the provincial acting provincial chairperson, David Makhura, said the conference would be a success.
“We have a lot of fresh energy in our structures across the province, in particular in municipalities we lost. We have leadership collectives that have what it takes to win the 2019 elections comfortably.”
