VIDEO: Food Lovers Market to probe Diepkloof 'rat video'
Food Lovers Market said it is aware of a video purporting to show a rat at one of its stores at Diepkloof Square.
The video of the rodent went viral after it was posted on Twitter over weekend.
In the video the rat can be seen in the food stall gnawing on the displayed food.
"We view the matter in a serious light and have launched an investigation to establish the source of the rodent problem," the franchiser said in a statement.
The store says the last inspection took place in November.
"The store is also contracted to the pest control company, Rentokil who do regular inspections and provide the necessary services regarding to rodent and pest control."
