Video of huge indoor party shocks Eastern Cape municipality

Management of the Buffalo City Metro in the Eastern Cape have called on businesses to respect the rule of law after a video emerged on social media of people attending a big indoor party and violating Covid-19 regulations.

The video which emerged over the weekend, shows partygoers and the establishment breaking a string of Covid-1 regulations under the Adjusted Level 3 of lockdown.

There is no social distancing with not a face mask in sight.

“The Buffalo City Metro is calling on businesses to act responsibly in the wake of the resumption of alcohol sales,” reads the statement. 

 

“A disturbing video about a recent gathering at an indoor venue in East London has emerged, showing total disregard of Lockdown Alert Level 3 regulations.

 

“We are calling on all businesses in Buffalo City to respect the law.”



The video from Buffalo City comes a few days after the ban on alcohol was lifted by President Cyril Ramaphosa, although the country still remains on lockdown level three.

 

The regulations include that indoor gatherings may not exceed 50 percent of the venue capacity, while a curfew also remains in place..

  

Buffalo City has also called on liquor license regulators to take action against businesses that are breaking the law.
