Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
A total of 71 puppies have died following the outbreak of a virus at a police K9 breeding unit in Roodeplaat in Pretoria.

NSPCA special projects manager Aarno De Klerk says they are working with the K9 academy to deal with the outbreak.
“The NSCPCA and the Tshwane SPCA are working closely with the South African police service K9 unit at Roodeplaat regarding an outbreak of a virus that affected some of the dogs there.
“We have given assistance and guidance to the SAPS on how to assist with controlling the measures but they have put measures into place to prevent the spreading of the disease and also give treatment to the animals currently affected.”
