Vuwani residents to shut down the area
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Vuwani residents plan to shut down the area on Tuesday - a day before the national election.

Residents have been protesting since 2015 against their incorporation into the newly established Collins Chabane Municipality in Limpopo.
Pro-Makhado Group spokesperson, Arnold Mulaudzi, says the residents will gather at the Vuwani Stadium on Tuesday as part of a total shut down of the area.
Mulaudzi says residents were supposed to have a meeting on Sunday but were dispersed by police.
"The meeting couldn't materialise because of the police came to disperse the people with rubber bullets and teargas," says Mulaudzi.
Mulaudzi adds that the government should not use the apartheid regime system of suppressing the voices of the citizens by using the police.
"Let them come to Vuwani and engage directly with the people of Vuwani."
He adds government is well aware of the calls by the community and he has urged political leaders to commit to the call to solve this issue.
Mulaudzi says the people of the area have taken a vow not to participate in the upcoming national and provincial elections.
