Vuwani shutdown suspended for Easter
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
The pro-Makhado task team in Vuwani in Limpopo has suspended its shutdown this week, ahead of the Easter weekend.
The latest shutdown has seen the torching of at least one school in the area.
Residents are demanding that the Municipal Demarcation Board relook the municipal boundaries in the area.
In 2016, some 30 schools were either burnt or vandalised when residents protested for four months due to unhappiness over a demarcation issue.

The task team’s Arnold Mulaudzi says they have lifted the shutdown for the Easter period, until this coming Monday.
"We will be meeting with all villages and affected communities on Monday to determine the way forward," Mulaudzi says.
The police's Moatshe Ngoepe says they will maintain a presence in the area.
"Our deployment is ongoing. We are not following the information of a suspended shutdown, we are continuing deploying members indefinitely.”
