Wanatu cars impounded for ‘operating without permits’
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The Tshwane metro police confirmed the impounding of three cars of Afrikaans e-hailing service Wanatu on Wednesday.

TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba said the vehicles were impounded because they were operating without permits.
The cars were impounded in Centurion on Wednesday.
The e-hailing service began operating in October and is currently doing business in Centurion and Pretoria.
Wanatu is the first e-hailer aimed at promoting the Afrikaans language.
Last month, hundreds of Uber and Bolt e-hailing service drivers marched to the Tshwane metro offices to protest the impounding of their cars for operating without permits.
In a Fcaebook post, Wanatu said it will be taking legal action against the impounding of its cars.
"WANATU service delivery has been temporarily suspended due to the actions of TMPD by unlawful shelling of our vehicles and intimidation of our drivers. We will be taking legal action (We are going to HOFTU)"
