Wapadrand substation damage to run into millions
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The City of Tshwane says the rebuilding of Wapadrand substation could end up costing between R60 million and R80 million.

A fire at the substation on Tuesday has plunged Wapadrand, Faerie Glen, Equestria, Silver Lakes, Lombardy, Zwavelpoort, and Olympus into darkness.
The city’s engineers and electricians have been working around the clock for four days to try and restore power.
The city’s Darryl Moss says electricity should be restored at the weekend.
"The work is a little more than we expected at first up, but we still expect to energise the areas over the weekend," says Moss.
He adds the damage could run into millions of rands.
"If I use the problem we had at Mooikloof, we are looking into R60 - 80 million."
Moss says the team started working on rebuilding the substation on Tuesday after the fire.

Moss says residents in the area have been lending a helping hand by providing food to the workers at the substation.
