The cold front, which is expected to bring freezing temperatures, will bring showers and thunderstorms.

SAWS forecaster Kumsa Masizana says a level two warning has been issued.

“We are expecting a 30-60% chance of thundershowers and showers and an 80% is likely over the Cape Winelands district as we have issued out a level two warning for heavy rainfall that could lead to localised flooding,” says Masizana.

“This is a very fast-moving system and by this evening a lot of the rainfall will shift to the Eastern Cape and then we are expecting some clearing from tomorrow along the coastal areas of the Western Cape but still, a 30% is expected over the Northern Cape to the Eastern Cape spreading to KwaZulu-Natal by tomorrow afternoon into the eventing.”

The cold front will not affect temperatures in Gauteng as the province is expected to remain fine with the maximum being at 25 degrees.
