Warnings of heavy thunderstorms over Gauteng, NW

The South African Weather Services has warned of severe thunderstorms over Gauteng and North West on Thursday afternoon.

Forecaster William Msimanga says they do expect the storms to spread throughout Gauteng province in the afternoon.

"We do expect the thunderstorms to produce large amounts of hail, strong damaging winds and heavy down pours," Msimanga says.

Msimanga urges people to be cautious during the rest of the day as some of the storms will be severe.

He says chances of similar storm on Friday are slim.
